A monument of stone, marble and gold letters welcomes the entrance, for both residents and visitors, to Martin County and the Treasure Coast of Florida. Located in the median, the cost of trenching the roadway and installing an electrical extension would have incurred considerable cost and left the county seeking a better solution. "Enjoy our Good Nature" is the local flair; so, environmentally, solar electricity was in keeping with the county spirit.
Economically, solar electric lighting provided a lower up front cost, so the choice was easy. The county selected a SEPCO™ Solar Electric Lighting System SELS to provide the sign lighting for the first prototype in a series of signs planned in the county. The Solar Power Assembly tucks along the back, behind the sign, surrounded by small bushes and ground cover plants.
The advantage customers have with our systems is that the Power Assembly can be placed in a convenient location some distance away from the sign lighting without degrading the performance of the lighting system. At sunset, the Solar Power Assembly ignites four, bright flood lights ... two illuminate the sign and two, positioned behind the sign, provide landscape lighting.
